Abstract

Nowadays, the existing of robotics technologies in construction industry are widely used in various aspects of construction activities which helps to address associated problems on construction sites. Even though the implementation of construction robotics technologies can brings a lot benefits but Malaysian construction industry is not aware about the existence of robotic technology and still practicing the traditional method in the construction project. This practicing will cause the highest accidents cases in construction industry due to the human error. However, one of the biggest issues of construction industry is on the poor quality of work due to the usage of foreign workers as there is a shortage of Malaysian manpower in the labour oriented industry. Malaysian construction industries still low in implementation of construction robotics technologies because of many challenges. So that, the purpose of the research was to study the implementation of construction robotics technologies, investigate the challenges of implementation of construction robotics and recommend method to improve the implementation construction robotics technologies. Research used quantitative method by distributing 180 questionnaires to G7 contractor in Kuala Lumpur by using Google form and the response rate was 27.78% that will analyze by using Microsoft Excel. The findings showed that majority of the construction industry never used of construction robotics technologies in Malaysia because of the high cost to maintain the construction robotics technologies. In order to increase the usage of the construction robotics technologies, strategic partnership with high technologies companies were the main method. In conclusion, construction robotics technologies should be scrutinizing by the Malaysian construction players in order to increase the productivity of the projects.
