Abstract

Nowadays, the issues about psychosocial workplace hazards had become a hot topic. However, there is only a little research that had been conducted in Malaysia. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of psychosocial workplace hazards in the factory sector. The other objective is to determine the relationship between psychosocial workplace hazards and workers’ health which are Body Mass Index (BMI) as well as mental health in factory sector. Two research hypothesis had been examined that related to the psychosocial workplace hazards, Body Mass Index (BMI) and mental health. In this study, 105 workers were selected randomly from the factory sector in Klang, Selangor and the questionnaire was distributed to them. The result revealed that there was a significant relationship between psychosocial workplace hazards and BMI while there was no significant relationship between psychosocial workplace hazards and mental health. This study serves a guideline for the organization concerning the relation of psychosocial workplace hazards with workers’ health.
