Abstract

With the demand on the minimization of time consuming, decrease manpower and improvement of the production and machining accuracy, pineapple cube cutting machine has been a key technology for pineapple industries. The purpose of this paper is to develop new improvement for a prototype of pineapple cube cutting machine. Nowadays, there are variety products produced by using pineapples such as pineapple juice, pineapple sauce, pineapple jam, pineapple fibre meatballs, and pineapple fibre crackers. An industry of pineapple needs to use much energy of workers in cutting process of pineapple in a large quantity. Generally, this problem has negatively impacted on time consuming because they need to cut thousands of them in a short time to follow customer’s demand. In this study, a prototype was designed and this paper will details on how to design a prototype that could cut pineapple into cube shape in a short time period and fulfill the need of Malaysia Pineapple Industries (MPIB) and Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The main objectives of this research are to develop a prototype of pineapple cube cutting machine and identify potential of this prototype in MPIB and SMEs. The prototype of the machine can be used with pineapple that has been peeled. Interview method was used in order to get accurate information for this research. The explanation about work method and type of tools being used along this research was presented. Several sketch drawings of prototype have been chosen by comparison of certain aspect in order to get a better result so that the prototype that has been developed have their benefit in industries. Practically, this prototype can be used to cut other fruit with different size of cutter. This research has been successful achieved the objectives of the targeted research.
