Abstract

Transformational, transactional leadership and innovative work behaviour are essentials elements in order to determine the performance of electronic manufacturing industry and providing a sustainable output in the future. Thus, this study aim to identify the level of transformational leadership, transactional leadership and innovative work behaviour towards organizational performance and the relationship between transformational leadership towards innovative work behaviour of organizational performance in electronic manufacturing industry. The current issues that faced by SMEs which comprises time, manpower and research and development (R&D) activities and product commercialization upgrading that is viewed as a cost rather than investment. Hence, this study adopted the quantitative approach whereby questionnaires are selected in order to receive feedback from the respondents to record the data. Based on the data collection which have been collected from electronic manufacturing industry, 200 out of 361 respondents who answered the questionnaires. Therefore, findings showed that transformational leadership has high level of central tendency whereby idealized influence is the highest mean which recorded 4.03 while transactional leadership has medium level of central tendency whereby contingent rewards is the highest mean which recorded 3.87. Transformational leadership has strong correlation with innovative work behaviour in which r value recorded 0.613 while transactional leadership has weak correlation with innovative work behaviour whereby r value recorded 0.250. To conclude, transformational and transactional leadership plays a significant role towards innovative work behaviour in order to ensure a productive and effective outcome and performance in an electronic manufacturing industry.
